A Bit of Tango and More…

An Original Classical Music CD with Tango Music and More

Sharon wrote two tangos for this album: Slow Tango and Milonga. Watch the Milonga in the video above with dancers Alex Krebs and Jenna Rohrbacher. Sharon plays the piano and is accompanied by renowned cellist, Mary Costanza.

Says Sharon of her inspiration to write the tango pieces: “My grandmother was born in Argentina and I feel a deep connection to the music. The Argentines are passionate about this magnificent dance. There  are many variations within the tango. Each dancer creates their own steps and style. Over the years it has become an extremely popular dance internationally. I studied the tango for a few years and realized its complexity and great beauty.”

Slow Tango Video

Featuring Internationally Acclaimed Tango Dancer and Instructor, Alex Krebs with partner Jenna Rohrbacher

In the Slow Tango, Sharon captures a couple dancing closely with great feeling and attention to their every movement and each other. The piece is melodic and emotional.

Milonga moves quickly and is very rhythmic. In addition to being a traditional form of tango, Milonga also refers to a place where Argentines meet in a hall to dance the tango, often to a live group of local musicians. They socialize with their friends and enjoy a nice meal together.

Sharon produced a video for each of the two tangos, and you can see how provacotive the music becomes when two dancers make it come alive.

A note about  the other music on the CD: Sharon enjoys using imagery in her music. Frolicking is joyful, depicting children skipping and playing. Again it is a departure from what one would call “traditional” classical music, and captures through its originality the essence of how music feels.

Sharon frequently seeks a place that gives her utter peace. She thought of that when composing Mystere. This piece captures that place of calm and reflection. It is the  embodiment of “soothing instrumental music.”
